BOTOX VERSUS JUVÉDERM: WHAT IS RIGHT FOR YOU?
When it comes to wrinkles and other spots on your face, you have many different options out there to go after. Both are great fillers that can get rid of those unwanted spots, but it isn’t always easy to tell which would be the right one for you. Each treatment can deliver natural-looking results while also having little-to-no downtime. Discomfort is very minimal with each procedure as well because a very thin needle is used for the application, so you don’t have to worry about any intense procedure that would cause side effects for you. Both are also FDA approved and considered safe; you just have to make sure that they are applied by qualified personnel. Each injectable is good for different things, it’s up to you to decide which you will choose.
INJECTABLE TYPES
Botox
Botox is great for those wrinkles that appear when you move your face, such as when you are laughing or smiling. They smooth out those wrinkles and prevent them from occurring in those moments. If you are worried about those wrinkles that aren’t apparent for every moment of the day, then Botox is for you. It can also be used as a preventative treatment for younger patients who want to avoid getting them. Botox works great for the forehead, crows feet, and laugh/furrow lines.
Juvéderm
Juvéderm is perfect for those wrinkles that are always there and not just when you smile. It is also great for defining the lip area. It works best for the wrinkles from the nose to the mouth, the mouth to the chin, frown lines, and cheekbones.
It is good to note that you don’t just have to choose one or the other. Both can work together to create that perfect look that you want.
HOW DO THEY WORK?
Botox
Botox is a protein that relaxes the muscles where wrinkles can often occur. This protein works to stop those lines by controlling the relaxation of these muscles in place by blocking the signal from the nerve to the muscles which causes those wrinkles to soften.
Juvéderm
Juvéderm is more of a filler for those wrinkles and is made from the naturally occurring hyaluronic acid already found in your body. It works by filling in the wrinkles themselves rather than relaxing the places where those wrinkles occur. This allows for it to get into some of the finer lines that you may be worried about.
RESULTS
Botox
Botox can last for anywhere from 3 months to 6 months and in some cases even a full year. It is applied using a small needle so there is very minimal pain when it is applied. The results will be noticeable within a couple of days after your session and you are welcome to get as many or as little doses as would like. If you go to a certified specialist, then you will have the most natural-looking results as possible
Juvéderm
Juvéderm is expected to last anywhere to last 6 months to a year depending on how much hyaluronic acid is contained within the dose. It also contains a small amount of anesthetic so you will feel very little pain. Your results will be noticeable as soon as a couple of days after the procedure.
